Our shelter, Day Center, and Welcome Central programs serve Leavenworth County residents. Demonstrating a county connection is straightforward — a prior mailing address, a pay stub from a local employer, an eviction record, a county ID, or school transcripts all qualify.
There is no sobriety requirement. No income threshold. No reservation and no waitlist for overnight shelter. The two requirements are a connection to Leavenworth County and the ability to care for yourself without assisted-living-level support.

Every volunteer at Community of Hope serves through one of two programs. Choose the one that fits your life.
I need a place to sleep tonight.
The Night Shelter is open every night of the year. Thirty-five beds. Walk-ins welcome after 8:00 p.m. — no reservation, no appointment, no prior contact required. Just come to 311 Kiowa.
I need daytime services — meals, a shower, or laundry.
The Day Center at 311 Kiowa opens at 7:00 a.m. every day of the year. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are available for unhoused guests, along with showers, laundry, and on-site case management.
I need help with ID, housing applications, or rent assistance.
Welcome Central provides case management for Leavenworth County residents who are unhoused or at risk of losing their housing. Case managers help with birth certificates, state IDs, Social Security cards, housing applications, rent and utility assistance, and appointments. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
I just need a good meal.
Our community lunch is served Monday through Friday to anyone in the Leavenworth area who needs one. No registration. No documentation of any kind required. Just show up.

Come anyway. Welcome Central case managers specialize in helping people obtain the documentation they need — birth certificates, state IDs, and Social Security cards. In 2025, we helped 24 Leavenworth County residents obtain state IDs and 40 obtain birth certificates. Missing paperwork is not a barrier to getting started.
